The Railyard District has some of the best activities and festivals in the region. Visit the Santa Fe Farmers Market to support local farmers while shopping for seasonal produce and food products. Artists and art lovers will love the SITE Santa Fe art museum, where you can view various international and contemporary exhibits. They also host lectures, discussions, and more. The Santa Fe Artists Market is another venue for local artists. Juried artists display and sell their work, which ranges from pottery to jewelry, paintings, textiles, and more. To view contemporary and modern art, head to the LewAllen Galleries. Known for its impressive architecture and array of stunning exhibitions, it’s one of the finest privately-owned galleries in the Western US.
To catch a flick, visit the Jean Cocteau Cinema. This single-screen indie cinema proudly curates a selection of meaningful films with the mission to bring back the magic of going to the movies. In 1976, it was originally opened as The Collective Fantasy, and later became the Jean Cocteau Cinema in 1983. To the disappointment of avid movie fans, it closed in 2006, but was later bought, restored, and reopened in 2013. Now, the building is also home to artistic tenants to help keep Santa Fe’s thriving art scene alive and well.
The Railyard Plaza hosts various events throughout the year, including the Summer Concert Festival, which is the perfect way to relax, enjoy some good music, and even grab great food from local restaurants or food trucks.
